So you want to ship a car cheap?
At some point in everyone’s life they have to move from one home to another, it’s just a part of life. When you start this process, many choices will have to be made, most of which end up being about finding the least expensive way to get something accomplished. You may try and save money by comparing the costs of hiring a professional moving company with a do-it-yourself approach or deciding whether to drive your vehicles to your new home versus using an auto transport company. There are pros and cons to each, but before you make a choice about how you’re going to get your vehicle(s) to your new home, it’s best to understand the costs associated with the methods.
When considering the cost of professional car shipping companies, the distance you are looking to ship the car plays the biggest role in how much it will cost to get it there. Moving one state over is going to cost you less than going coast to coast.
You also need to keep in mind that the price will fluctuate a bit, both up and down. As fuel costs rise and fall, it will be reflected in their prices, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on fuel prices and if you can, plan to ship when the price is low because you will find better deals. Although it won’t be a huge cost difference, any money saved is more money in your pocket when you’re in the middle of a big move and life change.
Auto transport services will almost always be somewhat more expensive than moving the vehicle yourself, but it pays to consider the convenience aspect. Moving is a highly stressful time and the less you have to manage, the better off you and your move will be. Using a professional car shipping company, while a little more costly, will eliminate the wear and tear of driving your vehicle(s) across the country and the time and effort associated with the process. Since the vehicle will be loaded onto a car transport truck for delivery, it will also face fewer risks and be less likely to suffer any road-related damage.
When you are looking for a car shipping company, keep in mind the cost should not be the only factor you look into. The motto, “you get what you pay for” is very true in every aspect of life, and car shipping is no different. You are free to cut corners and go for the lowest price you can find, but then you risk your car ending up like the ones in the video. As a side note: in the video description it further states that the owners of these cars signed a document saying they were transporting their vehicles at their own risk. If you’re asked to sign anything like that…RUN AWAY! Seriously, just walk away as fast as you can. Any carrier who is worth while, will be insured and be able to assure you that your vehicle is safe and cared for while in their care. Pick your car shipper wisely, not cheaply.
